I'm Desi Estévez, a photographer based in Barcelona.
It wasn't music that led me to photography, but the high mountains. "Thanks" to a military posting in the Vall d'Aran, I fell for the Pyrenees and their glaciers, and started photographing them. That first picture — postcard-pretty, but mine — was the one that made me see this was what I wanted to do.
From the silence of the ice I ended up in the roar of the stage. In both I'm after the same thing: taking the moment home with me. In the photo pit a portrait isn't enough: I wait for something to happen, and I catch it. Backstage or in a session, I observe or I suggest, and we make it work. I've done it in stadiums and in dive bars, with orchestras and with punk bands, live, for promo and for editorial. I love shooting, and my eye holds up in any of those places.
